A Russian hacking group that has attacked some of the world's largest news and business sites claims to have hacked the CNET website over the weekend and stolen a database of registered reader data.
A spokesperson for the group calling itself w0rm told CNET News in a Twitter that it stole a database of names, emails and encrypted passwords from CNET's servers. The database affects more than 1 million users.
W0rm said he managed to breach CNET's servers through a security vulnerability in Symfony PHP , a popular programming tool that provides a foundation on which developers can build a complex website.
