Facebook is killing marriage

Married users are 32% more likely to leave their partner than those who don't use social media, according to a study by Boston University.

The reason seems to have to do with the fact that married users of social media find comfort and emotional support more easily on them and thus decide more easily to leave a marriage that no longer satisfies them.

Facebook users are 32% more likely to divorce their partner than non-users, and the popular social networking site has emerged as a "predictor of divorce," at least in the US.

The research, led by Communication Professor James Katz, showed that the correlation of Facebook with marital problems and, above all, with divorce, is so great that Facebook became an important factor in predicting marital problems and divorce!

The researchers divided the number of Facebook accounts in each state by its population to find that a 20% increase in users was associated with a 2.18% increase in the divorce rate. Variables such as age, gender and employment had no effect on the association between divorce and Facebook.
