A 17-year-old from London has been charged with various offences, misuse and computer fraud, following an investigation carried out by the National Crime Agency in the United Kingdom.
According to a statement from authorities, the teenager was arrested last year in April, following multiple distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, which resulted in the disruption of internet services around the world.
Following his arrest, officers seized a number of electronic devices. Officers from the National Crime Agency also found that the suspect had “a significant amount of money in his bank account.”.
There isn't much information available in the statement, but judging by the fact that last year the major DDoS matching the above details were against Spamhaus, one could conclude that the 17-year-old was part of the team that carried out the attack.
As of February of this year, when nearly 400Gbps were involved in DDoS attacks, the one against Spamhaus holds the record for the largest amount of junk traffic directed at a single target.
