The names, addresses, and social security numbers of Twitter
's founders and former CEO were published on the "hidden" internet, likely in retaliation for suspending accounts .
According to researchers, the compromised data includes data from Twitter co-founders Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, and Noah Glass, as well as the social network, Dick Costolo. The full social security numbers of all four Twitter members were published on the Tor network, as were some mobile phone numbers, dates of birth, and past mailing addresses.
It is not yet clear where the data came from, but at the top of the page, it is stated that the information was leaked in protest of the suspension of some accounts on the microblogging service.
“Twitter suspended the @doxbin account for “excessive mentions” and subsequently refused to provide any support through the account’s support system.”
Perhaps what is most interesting is that the data was not made public – as far as we know – as it was not released to the public internet.
The site where the data was found was a “darknet” site of the Tor anonymous browsing network, which cannot be located with the common search engines we all use.
