Facebook will launch a new service that will allow its users to identify TV programs, movies and music playing in the background.
The service will be similar to Shazam and Sound Hound, and this new feature will be added to the app via an update from the App Store and Google Play.
Mark Gurman reports characteristically:
"Facebook is expected to introduce a new feature/service so that users can easily share with their friends what they are listening to or watching at any time. The service will accept as input the sound from the microphone of the user's device.".
The service will automatically find the sound and activate a link to the artist's corresponding Facebook page.
All songs will also have a series of Spotify, Rdio or Deezer previews, based on the app you last used to listen to your music.
