On 28 April, the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) conducted the Cyber Europe 2014 (CE2014) exercise. A total of 600 security actors from across Europe participated in the event.
Over 200 organisations and 400 information security experts took part in the first phase of CE2014, a biannual event organised by ENISA, in cooperation with the Member States of the European Union and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).
The objective of CE2014 is to strengthen cyber capabilities at the national level, to review existing cooperation processes and mechanisms for managing crisis situations, to analyze cooperation between the public and private sectors, to have a better understanding of public affairs related to large-scale cyberattacks, and to analyze escalation and de-escalation processes at various levels.
This is the third time Cyber Europe has been held. The first two were held in 2010 and 2012. However, this time, organizers believe the exercise is larger in scope, scale, and complexity.
The technical phase of the exercise took place on April 28. Later this year, the “operational” (tactical) and “strategic” (political) phases will take place.
