The GovWin IQ System, run by Deltek, a provider of business software and IT solutions, has been hit by a data breach, putting the data of approximately 80,000 employees at risk.
GovWin is designed specifically for Government Contracting with the aim of growing their business.
The attack occurred between July and November 2013. However, the company was informed of the breach in March 2014.
The hacker exploited a security vulnerability in the GovWin IQ system and was able to gain access to customer data. The information accessible by the hacker includes names, billing addresses, phone numbers, and business email addresses.
According to a Federal News radio report, hackers had access to information on about 25,000 credit cards, including those of customers. Those whose information was compromised can use free credit monitoring services.
The company says it is cooperating with authorities on the matter. They have also hired a digital credential analysis firm and claimed to have arrested the suspected hacker behind the breach.
