South Korean police have announced the arrest of two suspects, who are accused of hacking and breaching the systems of KT-Corp, one of South Korea's largest mobile and Internet companies.
According to CNN, a hacker named Kim managed to break into KT-Corp's computer systems, stealing the personal information of 12 million customers. The stolen data included banking details, addresses, and information related to the company's employees.
The hacker then sold the stolen data to a telemarketing company owner, who posed as a representative of KT Corp and used the stolen information to sell mobile phones.
According to authorities, the two men's illegal activities, which began in February 2013, led to total profits of 11.5 billion Won (7,850,000€).
Authorities continue to investigate the case, looking into the involvement of another suspect.
