Economic crime against businesses and other organizations continues to increase around the world, according to the Global Economic Crime Survey 2014, conducted by PwC.
According to the survey, around 37% of respondents said they have been a victim of financial crime, while approximately 25% of them have been a victim of cybercrime, as technology is now the main tool of modern tax evaders.
PwC research findings show that theft remains the most common form of financial crime, accounting for 69% of cases. It is followed by procurement fraud at 29%, corruption and bribery at 27%, cybercrime at 24% and accounting fraud at 22%.
