A strange case in which, if the allegations made by the Panhellenic Association of Catering and Entertainment Establishments (PASKEDI) are true, we are faced with risks to public health and the possibility of high tax evasion, is coming to light regarding the website cookisto.com.
According to what PASKEDI (president Niki Konstantinou, general secretary Elias Kallioras) has reported in a signed complaint to the Electronic Crime Prosecution Department and the Economic Crime Department of the Hellenic Police, "cookisto states that it is an online community that allows you to find healthy, delicious, homemade food at a cost price, wherever you are.".
In order for someone to register in the member community, the website requests the following information: PHOTO, NAME, LAST NAME, ADDRESS, CITY, CELL PHONE, E-MAIL, A FEW WORDS ABOUT HIS INTERESTS, COOKING SPECIALTIES.
As you can understand, no identification or verification is made from this information, because anyone can declare false information for their own reasons and declare themselves a cook!
Everyone declares themselves to be cooks, and while the website indicates that "we will process your information," an e-mail is sent two days later that "christens" them a cook.
The cooks are supposed to cook extra portions of food at home, which they display on the site with a price per portion.
If there are people who want homemade food and live near these cooks, they contact them online and buy the food hand in hand.
And PASKEDI justifiably asks in its complaint:
“-What receipts are issued when food is delivered to customers?
-Where is the food cooked and by which bodies are the premises controlled?
-How can a restaurateur prove that he is not responsible for his customer's poisoning, but something the customer ate from an unknown source?
-How is it possible for someone, when they are hungry, to open their computer, see the menu they like, come into online contact with the unknown cook or cook to order, and then leave their home or office, walk 500 or 1000 meters to pick up the food, and all this to save 1.5 or 2 Euros? Is there something else going on?
-How is it possible for housewives, according to the users on the website, to cook and open the door of their house to strangers in order to sell them food?
-How is it possible that reputable journalists from the television channels MEGA, ANT1, ALPHA, STAR who advertised the creators of the film with extensive television time
-How will a psychopath be found or controlled if they suddenly decide to poison people?
"How would someone decide to rape a woman with the intention of buying food?"
Very serious and reasonable questions.
And the implication of "money laundering" is clear.
We believe that the complaint should be investigated immediately…

SecNews's opinion: We believe that PASKEDI and the other bodies of the association of restaurants, clubs, bars, entertainment centers, etc. should realize that startup efforts that change the way of catering and promote a different form of entrepreneurship from the trivial ones must be supported and not led by hypothetical scenarios in the courtrooms. With such outdated logic and theories about the rape of women under the pretext of food(!) etc., neither smart ideas are promoted nor will the often overpriced restaurants or cafe-bars be filled. Perhaps the people responsible for PASKEDI should investigate again if there are substantiated complaints and proceed with legal action. Otherwise, they should evaluate the idea (as a London fund did, which is financing the expansion of the idea in London, as we read ) and why not propose their own alternative approach!
