The first extensions to electronic addresses in cyberspace in the Arabic language are a fact.
These are the .shabaka (شبكة. in Arabic) extensions. Translated into Greek, the extensions mean .internet.
The Arabic suffixes are part of the expansion of cyberspace's electronic addresses. Until now, there were 22 different suffixes, such as .com or .org, while country-specific suffixes such as .uk or .gr were also used.
By expanding the extensions, according to experts who spoke to the British network BBC, businesses will be able to protect their online brand name.
At the same time, several experts express the opinion that the need for expansion is imperative as there are now too many websites and too few "free" domain names.
