The smartwatch that Apple is being kept a closely guarded secret for now, with the minimal information so far indicating that it will emphasize health and fitness.
A recent New York Times report, however, brings the issue back to the forefront and reports that Apple's smartwatch is very likely to incorporate an alternative charging, such as inductive charging.

For the “iWatch”, Apple is also experimenting with even more advanced charging solutions, such as using the user's hand movement or even solar energy, through a solar panel that will be integrated under the device's screen.
