"Smart" gun recognizes its owner

James Bond's weapon aimed at reducing violence was invented by the German company Armatix. The Smart System iP1, as it is called, works only in the hands of its owner and in combination with a "smart" watch.
According to the manufacturer, the watch sends radio waves to the weapon, unlocking it and thus preventing its use by someone other than its legal owner. Without the accompanying watch, according to Armatix, the weapon locks and its use is impossible.

Hi-tech weaponry

The status of the weapon is visible from the light on the back: when it is green it means that the weapon is unlocked, while when it is red the weapon is locked. As the inventive company describes on its official website, the weapon automatically deactivates every time it is moved away from the watch and goes out of range.

"Technology can help address contemporary social issues, such as violence and gun use," explains Ron Conway, a billionaire American investor in innovative projects who is one of the financiers of the hi-tech weapon. For example, if a burglar enters the home of the owner of the "smart" weapon, he cannot immobilize him, take it and use it against him.

In the next phase, the Armatix company is thinking of focusing on creating "wearable" devices, e.g. smart watches, which will communicate with other weapons and inform their owner in case of movement or use by another person. Another idea concerns the creation of a system for recognizing the owner's fingerprints.
