Until yesterday it seemed like a simple scenario.
The technology exists, as does the possibility that Apple could equip the next iPhone and MacBook with a screen and cover, respectively, that will have a built-in solar panel for ecological charging of the devices!
The issue is gaining new interest as just yesterday, the competent American authority gave the OK for the registration of Apple's patent that had been filed since last year.
The second piece of relevant information concerns the fact that last year Apple began construction of a factory in Arizona, USA, with the sole purpose of creating special glass for displays that can accommodate a solar panel film inside.
Third, and perhaps most importantly, Apple had issued recruitment notices for "specialist technicians who will help create and develop technologies using special thin films for mobile phones and other devices.".
All of the above makes it very possible to create devices that will be charged by the sun.
Of course, given the small amount of solar energy that a film the size of the iPhone screen can collect, Apple must have some other technological ace up its sleeve when it comes to power management. Otherwise, it won't take the step of mass producing a device that won't deliver 100% of what it promises.
With a little patience we will find out.
