Windows XP will be retired on April 8, 2014, but that doesn't necessarily mean that all users want to switch to another operating system.
Statistics provided by Net Applications show that Windows XP's market share fell to 28.98% in December, meaning the 12-year-old operating system has lost 2.24% of its users in just 30 days.
Again, this is another indication that not everyone wants to abandon Windows XP, even though Microsoft has warned so many times that staying on this platform past its end-of-life date is a very risky decision.
The lack of system updates will essentially be an open door for hackers who will certainly try to exploit Windows XP vulnerabilities, mainly because no one will try to patch them once they are disclosed.
