Two university graduates accused of altering grades through hacking

Two Purdue University graduates in the US have admitted to carrying out a hacking attack on the educational institution's computer systems in an attempt to change their grades.

Roy C. Sun and Sujay Sharma used keylogging programs (keyloggers) to intercept the professors' login credentials, accessed the university's system and modified their grades.

According to the newspaper Journal & Courier, Sun admitted his guilt and accepted the charges of conspiracy for unauthorized computer access and data tampering. Sharma also admitted his guilt, and both youths are expected to be tried in February.

According to the indictment, Sharma is alleged to have changed only one grade from D to A. Sun, on the other hand, is accused of modifying nine grades from F to A, in the period between May 2008 and May 2010, when he graduated .

Sun and Sarma are not the only suspects in this case, and according to authorities, other students, who modified their scores.
