Tesla adds car vacuum cleaner to Supercharger for the first time

Tesla has taken a major step towards improving the charging experience for electric vehicle owners by installing a free car vacuum next to charging stations at a Supercharger in Germany. The move, believed to be a first of its kind for Tesla’s network, allows owners to clean their cars while they charge, turning those waiting minutes into something useful and productive.

The vacuum cleaner was spotted by Tesla owner Warren Whyte, who shared images on X, praising the feature. The addition is part of Tesla’s broader strategy to enhance the amenities provided at its charging stations, making them more attractive and functional for users. The station in Germany already includes multiple V4 stations, a solar roof, and a lounge for owners, making it one of the most amenity-rich stations on the network.

Tesla has spent years experimenting with what to put around charging stations, trying to bridge the gap with the gas station amenities that drivers are accustomed to. In 2017, the company built its first owner lounge with a cafe and restrooms in Kettleman City, offering drivers a place to relax and enjoy a coffee while their vehicles charge. In 2018, window cleaning stations with a mop were added, and later lounge “cubes” with self-serve coffee and food were developed.

The most ambitious version of these amenities is the retro-futuristic Tesla Diner and drive-in theater in Hollywood, which combines 80 V4 stations with a two-story restaurant and giant LED screens. This venture not only offers a unique charging experience, but also reinforces Tesla's image as a leader in innovation and customer service.

The obvious next addition to Supercharger amenities is a tire inflator, a staple at many gas stations. Tesla has already taken that step: its large Supercharger station in Goulburn, Australia, opening in 2025, includes a tire inflator. Combined with the new German vacuum cleaner, it will give owners a nearly complete pit-stop experience while charging.

Tesla operates one of the largest charging networks in the world, with more than 80,000 Supercharger stations worldwide. This extensive network is one of the main reasons Tesla electric vehicle owners enjoy such a seamless driving experience. The ability to charge at so many locations around the world makes electric vehicle travel easier and more affordable than ever.

Adding amenities like a vacuum cleaner and air compressor is not just a convenience for users, but also a strategic move to enhance the appeal of electric vehicles. As Tesla continues to expand and improve its network, drivers can expect even more innovations that will make the charging experience even more convenient and enjoyable.

These developments demonstrate Tesla’s determination to remain at the forefront of technology and customer service, offering not just a vehicle but a complete driving experience. With an eye on the future, Tesla continues to invest in solutions that facilitate the transition to a more sustainable form of transportation, making electric mobility an attractive option for more and more consumers.
