BMW is the latest major automaker to officially gain access to Tesla’s Supercharger network in North America. As of yesterday, BMW electric vehicle drivers in the U.S. have access to more than 25,000 Tesla chargers, a huge boost in charging options for owners of the i4, iX and other electric models from the German automaker.
This move follows a wave of other automakers gaining access in the last year as the industry transitions to NACS (North American Charging Standard), Tesla's proprietary connector that has now become the standard.

BMW has confirmed that vehicle owners can find Tesla charging stations directly in their vehicle's navigation system and in the My BMW app.
However, current BMW electric vehicles equipped with CCS portswill need a CCS-to-NACS adapter to use the majority of V3 and V4. According to BMW, official adapters will go on sale as accessories starting in the second quarter of 2026. In the meantime, some third-party adapters are already available on the market.
Those near one of Tesla's few "Magic Dock" locations (chargers with a built-in CCS adapter) can charge any BMW electric vehicle instantly, without the need to purchase additional equipment.

BMW has also clarified its timeline for native NACS ports, which will eliminate the need for an adapter. The transition begins with the BMW i5 M60 , followed by other models throughout the year, including the long-awaited Neue Klasse iX3.
Interestingly, there is a “software hurdle” for some 2026 models. BMW noted that the 2026 iX and i5 eDrive40 will not be able to use Tesla Superchargers until they receive a remote software upgrade, scheduled for the second quarter of 2026.
BMW and other non-Tesla vehicles on the Supercharger network
One of the biggest problems for non-Tesla electric vehicles using the charging network has been the user experience. Tesla has set the bar high with its “plug and play” ecosystem. BMW seems to have integrated this feature well. The car manufacturer states that Plug & Charge is supported at Tesla stations.

The Tesla app is not required to start a charging session. Instead, charging is done through the Shell Recharge , which is integrated into the My BMW app.
Pricing will follow Tesla's pricing structure for non-Tesla vehicles, which is generally higher than what Tesla owners (unless someone opts for a monthly subscription).
