Sony Computer Entertainment Europe boss Jim Ryan was recently on a parenting talk show, arguing that when it comes to video games and children, parents need to pay attention to what their children are doing when interacting with a video game platform, such as the PS4 console .
Sony has just released the PS4 in Europe, and to promote the next-generation device, Jim Ryan spoke on the BBC talk show, according to a transcript from DualShockers.
Unfortunately, Ryan was bombarded with questions about violent video games and the effect on children.
The boss of Sony Europe was quick to respond, saying that parents should pay attention to what their children are doing.
"You should take a little better care of your children. We believe that parents have a big responsibility in this. We make the games, our industry makes the games: . . . Some are for children and some are for adults and we feel that parental responsibility is fundamental," he said.
This large response highlights how important the role of the parent is and that video game companies like Sony cannot guarantee that a child will not have access to content that is not allowed.
