The last thing anyone who has had their iPhone stolen would expect is for the thief to return their contact list. But that's exactly what happened in China, where the thief wrote down the owner's 1,000 contacts on 11 pages and sent them to him!
The thief stole the device from someone named Zhu Bin, a bartender by profession, who, like many mobile phone users, had many contacts stored on his phone, but had not taken care to keep a backup copy of his contact list.
Bean was going to be the best man at a friend's wedding and had gone to his bachelor party the night his phone was stolen.
When he made his way back home and while he was drunk, he shared an illegal taxi with three of his friends and, apparently, the cell phone thief.
“I know you are the man who sat next to me. I assure you I will find you,” was the text message that Bean sent to the thief on his own iPhone. “Look at the contacts on my phone and you will see where I work. Send me the phone back to the address below if you have any sense,” the message continued.
According to reports, Bean works in a place that is believed to be linked to gangs.
A few days after sending this message, Bean received a package containing the SIM card and 11 handwritten pages with his contact list, but not the device.
