A few months ago, BlackBerry announced the release of the popular BBM (BlackBerry Messaging) app for Android and iOS devices.
The growing popularity and name of the messaging service seem to be being exploited by cunning developers, who upload fake applications to the Windows Store, and make them available to users in exchange for money.
A typical example is the “BBM” application, which is available from the Microsoft online store for $2.49 (€1.90).
Of course, this is not the original application, but a simple app that displays news and updates about BlackBerry.
However, scammers are trying to exploit the name of the genuine app to trick users into downloading it. At the same time, there is no trial version of the app, so users who want to try it out must necessarily purchase it.
The application is currently still available in the Windows Store.
