Several users have reported that after installing Windows 8.1 they encountered a problem with the keyboard and mouse. At first glance, the problem seems to be caused by incompatible drivers, however, installing the latest version of the drivers does not seem to have any effect either.
Microsoft has not yet released a solution or patch to address the issue.
However, one of the users who took to the Microsoft to report the problem revealed a quick solution to address the issue by disabling a specific BIOS feature.
So, if you are facing the same problem, try following these steps:
- Restart your computer and access the BIOS menu.
- In the UEFI settings, select “Advanced” mode.
- Then select "Intel XHCI Mode" and disable it.
- Save the new BIOS settings and restart your computer.
In case you cannot locate the above settings, make sure you are using the latest BIOS version for your computer.
*The issue only affects certain computers with Intel
