The “Syrian Electronic Army” is a well-known hacking group that carries out attacks against high-profile American organizations.

Last week, Syrian hackers carried out another attack, this time targeting the main website of the American magazine “Vice”.

The hackers managed to gain access to the website's administrative environment and then modified the settings required to redirect users to their own website.

“Dear @VICE, we have hacked your website to deliver a message,” the hackers said on Twitter.

The attack was carried out with the aim of deleting an article, which revealed the identity of a member of the group with the nickname “Th3Pr0”.

The hackers posted the following message on the compromised website:

“Your website was hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army. This time we only deleted the article in which you claim to have revealed the identity of “Th3Pr0″. But you didn’t. Instead you published the names of innocent people. The second time we will delete your entire website,” the hackers warned.

The attackers also claimed to have managed to hack the magazine's MailChimp account, sending emails to more than 33,000 subscribers.
