New biometric identification system scans the entire body

New Biometric SoftwareIn a recent study conducted by researchers in the United States, a more effective approach to biometric identification systems was presented to the general public.

Unlike previous technologies that only take into account the face, the new identification method also gathers elements of the person's body and posture.

The study was conducted by researchers at the University of Texas at Dallas in collaboration with the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

The team decided to move away from the typical assumption that the most important pieces of information about a person's identity are found in their face. While facial features remain very important for biometric software, the new study shows that other types of information can be just as important.

According to the researchers, the new system is based on the conclusion that people tend to recognize others based on upper body features, not just their faces.

explains NIST researcher Jonathon Phillips.
