Artificial intelligence startup Manus is presenting its own answer to OpenClaw and 's Personal Computer Perplexity. Manus' system, called 'My Computer', runs on Mac or PC , turning your machine into a personal AI agent.
Manus originally started as an independent AI company, but was acquired by Meta. Now, the company is releasing a desktop app that allows Manus AI to "manage local files , execute commands , and interact directly with your workspace to automate any workflow." Specifically, the company says:
“Meet My Computer, the central feature of the new Manus Desktop application. It brings Manus from the cloud to your computer, allowing it to work directly with your local files, tools and applications.
Through the Manus Desktop application, Manus executes CLI commands on your computer's terminal. This allows it to read, parse, and process local files, as well as launch and control your local applications.

Manus: Examples of using My Computer
As an example of what the system can do, Manus describes two scenarios involving tedious work:
“Think of a florist with thousands of photos on their computer: bouquets, potted plants, customer photos, and more, all in a single messy folder. They can simply tell Manus to ‘organize my florist photos.’ Manus then scans the files, recognizes the content of each image, creates categorized subfolders, and sorts each photo accordingly.
In a matter of minutes, a clean, structured resource emerges from the chaos.
Or imagine an accountant who needs to rename hundreds of invoices into a standardized format. A task that would take an entire afternoon by hand, Manus can complete it in a few minutes with a few commands”.

Manus has released its new desktop application for Macs that are based on Apple Silicon.
In summary, My Computer clearly captures the direction in which artificial intelligence is moving: from remote cloud environments, to more direct, "personal" user experiences. The ability of an AI agent to interact directly with the user's files, applications and operating system is not just another technological feature, but a fundamental change in the way we perceive productivity and daily work on the computer.
At the same time, this development also raises important questions about security, privacy and the degree of autonomy we are willing to grant to such systems. Although the benefits in terms of time savings and automation are obvious, the adoption of such solutions will depend on how reliable and transparent they prove to be in practice. In any case, tools like Manus show that we are already on the threshold of a new era, where our computer is not just a tool, but an active partner.
