The technology research company Vicarious announced that it built software capable of recognizing letters – like those that appear to confirm that the user is a human and not some electronic computer attempting to replace them-, from various email services, the well‑known CAPTCHA – in the same way the human brain recognizes them.
Vicarious, based in San Francisco, USA, announced that it created an algorithm that allows software to think like the human brain.
The company clarified that the development of the algorithm was done for purely research purposes and emphasized that it does not intend to sell it for commercial use.
«We wanted to show that we can take the first step towards a machine that will operate like our brain» said Scott Phoenix, one of the founders of Vicarious.
Artificial intelligence has been a field of research for many years. Vicarious has raised funds of $15 million in order to continue research in the field.
Anyone who wishes to try the algorithm in practice simply needs to visit Vicarious's website at www.vicarious.com.
