Piracydata.org is a new website that examines whether there are legal alternatives to films and other content pirated on the Internet in order to determine whether search engines are indeed responsible for promoting piracy, as the Motion Picture Association of America claims .
According to its findings, of the 10 most “downloaded” movies on BitTorrent, only 53% were found to be available in some legal digital format during the last three weeks, of which 20% was available for rental or paid streaming.
On the other hand, the MPAA's response is that "even if a film is not available for streaming, rental, or purchase at a given time, stealing it from its creators who worked hard on it is not justified.
