Bookia.gr is a new website about Books and Readers .
It is not an online bookstore, it is a place of meeting and communication for all those interested in being informed and sharing information about the books they have read or are reading.
For the first time in Greece, collective experience can be utilized in reading choices. We can very quickly see if a book met the expectations of those who read it, if they “liked it”, what its strengths and weaknesses are. Opinions (reviews) can range from a simple rating to a more detailed description.
For the first time in Greece, the book becomes the central object of sociality on the Internet. We can define the relationships with our books, shape our Library which our old friends from Facebook and our new friends on bookia. Accordingly, we can also see the Libraries (books) of our friends, which ones they have, want, have read, are reading, lend, have lent, have borrowed, give away, exchange, etc.
Now nothing goes to waste, the books we read don't stay on the shelves, we can give them away to those who want to read them. And we, in turn, can find and acquire books that others give away. In addition, we can exchange books with other bookia.
Participation in bookia is FREE, no payment or remuneration in any way or other conditions are required. bookia without even being required to log in. When we want to utilize a personal service, such as our relationship with a book, we log in with one click, using our Facebook account. Thus, we extend to bookia and to books, the relationship with our Facebook friends.
All books are here, no book will need to be registered by bookia. All Greek publications, works by Greek authors and translations published by Greek publishing houses are updated on a daily basis.
We browse books in multiple ways, by expanding the categories/subcategories, searching for words in the title, author or description, viewing our friends' Libraries and their relationships with books, from the flow of all events on the main page at bookia. Books are presented as large cover images or as lists, simultaneously with sorting options, chronological, publishing house, author, etc.
