For the first time in its 13-year history, the Interbrand, the annual study of the most "valuable" company logos worldwide, has a new holder of the top spot.
The American Apple "dethroned" Coca-Cola with its logo valued at the astronomical sum of 98.3 billion dollars.
Interbrand was first compiled in 2000. Every year since then, Coca-Cola has enjoyed the solitary top spot on the relevant list of the most powerful, economically and commercially, logos in the world.
The rise of the technology sector in terms of logos is also reflected in the fact that this year, apart from Apple, Google "climbed" to second place on the Interbrand list, with its logo valued at $93.3 billion.
Coca-Cola, which previously monopolized the top spot, was reduced to 3rd place with its logo valued at 79.2 billion dollars.
How logos are evaluated
Interbrand's database combines the financial performance of companies with the impact their logos have on consumers.
"Often, companies succeed in changing our lives not only with their products but also with their ethics. That's why Apple is number one today," commented Jez Frampton, executive director of Interbrand.
