Apple's iPhone 16e model, which belongs to the budget model category, seems to be not doing well in sales, just like the iPhone Air, according to information from a leak coming from Asia.

The Weibo user, known as “Fixed Focus Digital“, reported that the iPhone 16e is not selling well and the attempt to offer a popular, low-cost iPhone has ‘failed’. However, both models are expected to have successors. The iPhone 17e is expected to make its debut in spring 2026, while the iPhone Air 2 will likely be released later due to a delay.

Meanwhile, demand for the iPhone 17 series continues to grow, with production orders increasing. The iPhone 16e was introduced earlier this year, offering the A18 chip, OLED display, C1 modem, 48-megapixel camera, and more, with a price tag of $599. Until now, there have been few reports on its sales performance. On the other hand, the iPhone Air is widely reported to be in low demand. All production is expected to stop by the end of this month.

There were plans for a second-generation iPhone Air to launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro in September 2026, but The Information reports that Apple has decided to delay the launch to fall 2026. The iPhone 17e is expected to feature the A19 chip and possibly Dynamic Island. The iPhone Air 2 is rumored to offer an additional rear camera, a larger battery, and a vapor chamber for cooling. Apple seems to be hoping that these improvements will help boost sales.
