Apple doesn't release an "Ultra" variant for every chip in its Apple silicon lineup , but it appears the company is planning to introduce an M5 Ultra chip in 2026 (at least according to Bloomberg).
M5 Ultra Chip in Mac Studio;
The M5 Ultra is intended for the Mac Studio , and it's also possible that Apple will use it in a Mac Pro. There's no word on when exactly the M5 Ultra will be released, but historically, Ultra chips have followed the Pro and Max variants.

Apple has already introduced the M5 chip in the MacBook Pro, but we'll have to wait until early 2026 for the M5 Pro and M5 Max. The M5 Ultra will likely launch after that, perhaps in June or even September 2026.
Earlier this year, Apple decided to launch an updated Mac Studio with M4 Max and M3 Ultra chip options, making it clear that there was no M4 Ultra. The Ultra chips are two Max chips fused together with “ UltraFusion ” technology , but the M4 Max chip lacks the UltraFusion connector required for an M4 Ultra chip.
Apple also clarified that it does not plan to create a high-performance Ultra chip for each generation of the M series.

There are no other rumors of new features for the Mac Studio, so the M5 Ultra update could focus on internal improvements. Apple is rumored to be developing a pair of new displays, and at least one of them could be released alongside the Mac Studio in 2026.
The M5 Ultra is expected to leverage the improved architecture of the M5 chips, with a focus on power efficiency and workstation-level graphics performance.
