The Iraqi government has officially announced a ban on the popular American video game platform Roblox , citing reasons related to the protection of children and adolescents . Roblox Corporation, based in California, responded immediately to Iraq's announcement, stressing that the safety of users, especially children, is its top priority.
"We strongly dispute the claims by Iraqi authorities, which are based on an outdated understanding of our platform," a company spokesperson said, adding that Roblox is willing to work with the Iraqi government to restore access.
The company also recalled that earlier in 2025 it had already temporarily restricted functions in-game chat as part of enhanced security measures.
