It seems Meta is now paying attention to the iPad audience, and recently, the company – or more specifically the official WhatsApp account on X – hinted that an iPad version of the app is finally in the works. A WhatsApp iPad version has been something users have been waiting for for years, with rumors circulating without ever getting any official confirmation. But now, things seem to be changing for the better for iPad users.
The teaser was simple: a wide-eyed emoji, in response to a post asking WhatsApp to release an iPad app. For about two years, an iPad-adapted version of the app has been available for beta testing via TestFlight. Now, after all this time, it looks like we're getting closer to the official launch.

The situation regarding the Instagram iPad app (another highly anticipated and highly requested app) is less optimistic. We've been hearing rumors for a while, but Meta initially stated that it had no plans to create an Instagram iPad app. It's only recently that signs have started to emerge that the company may be changing its mind.

The WhatsApp iPad app will be offered alongside the iPhone and Mac versions. WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging platforms, so it's about time Meta made it easier for iPad owners to use it.
Currently, WhatsApp is not available for installation on iPads via the App Store. Users can access the service via a browser, but it is not a native application with all the advantages that this entails. As for Instagram, it can be installed on iPads, but it is not optimized for the larger screen and the user experience is rather disappointing.
