Bureau: Raises $30 million to combat Deepfakes

Bureau , a San Francisco-based startup developing a risk assessment platform for businesses, has secured $30 million in a new Series B funding round .

The round was led by Sorenson Capital, with participation from PayPal Ventures, Commerce Ventures, GMO Venture Partners, Quona Partners, XYZ Ventures and Village Global.

Since its founding in 2020, Bureau has raised over $50 million in total, and says it has tripled its revenue since its last funding round. The company’s core product helps businesses identify “mule” accounts, fake identities, account takeovers, and fraud .

Bureau’s technology combines device data, behavioral AI, identity insights and predictive modeling into a single solution, eliminating the need for multiple vendor integrations. “Traditionally, compliance, fraud, security and credit risks were addressed in isolation through different solutions.

“Bureau unifies these areas into one product,” the company said in its latest funding announcement. Additionally, Bureau’s proprietary identity knowledge graph now includes more than half a billion identities and behavior patterns, providing real-time risk insights for leading enterprises.

The company has already gained momentum in the banking, fintech, gaming and e-commerce sectors. With the new funding, Bureau intends to further invest in research and development, as well as accelerate its international expansion.
