Although its servers remain operational, the domain redirects to IP addresses that do not belong to Itch.io, making the platform inaccessible to the majority of users.

In a post on X, Itch.io blames pop culture collectibles company Funko for the fake phishing report filed with Itch.io's domain registrar . Specifically, it blames the company's artificial intelligence- based trademark protection software, Brand Shield, for creating the fake phishing report
Although the page in question has already been removed, the domain registrar, iwantmyname, has temporarily disabled the domain—likely through automated security systems. According to a recent update from Itch.io, the platform is waiting for a response from the registrar to reactivate the domain.
For users who know how to edit their computer's hosts file, there is a temporary access via the IP address 45.33.107.166. However, the platform notes that this entry should be removed once the domain is back up and running. Itch.io is optimistic that the issue will be resolved within a few hours, avoiding the need to create a new domain.

The issue comes just days after the launch of a new service that allows Itch.io users to link their domain to Bluesky accounts. Those who paid $10 to use their profile URL as a Blueskyare currently receiving an “invalid handle” message until the primary domain is restored.
