What's better than enjoying the timeless tradition of listening to a cassette tape on the go? We'd say that seeing the cassette while listening to your favorite mix or a pre-recorded album is even better. This experience is offered by the new transparent version of the Fiio CP13, a modern take on the classic Walkman, which stole the show at CES 2024.

The transparent version joins the existing CP13 colors (red/silver, blue/silver, and white/black) with an official price of $129. However, we note that Amazon is already offering it at a lower price, just $99.
The CP13 is truly a tribute to the golden age of analog audio. The device doesn't include Bluetooth for wireless headphones, nor does it offer any digital storage or playback of any kind. You simply pop in a cassette, plug in a set of wired headphones via the 3.5mm jack, and press the classic, large play button.
However, there are significant improvements. First and foremost, the built-in rechargeable battery. You may miss the days of cassette tapes, but you certainly won't miss having to swap out sets of AA batteries mid-album. That's why the CP13 offers 13 hours of playback and can be recharged via the USB-C.

The amplifier and motor have also been upgraded from the components used previously, so while the cassettes remain just as traditional, there's a chance they'll sound better than you remember on the CP13.
