New Firmware Version for the USB-C Apple Pencil: What's Changing?

USB-C Apple Pencil

Apple yesterday released a firmware update for the USB-C Apple Pencil that was released last year. The new firmware version has a build number of 10M6060, up from 10M5164. On the device, the updated firmware version number will be 37377.37377.16.0.

There is no mention of what features, fixes, or updates may be included in the new firmware version, and Apple does not provide release notes for Apple Pencil software versions.

The USB-C Apple Pencil to the Apple Pencil 2, but it's smaller in size and has a hidden USB-C port for charging and pairing. It can't pair or charge wirelessly, and it lacks some of the features available on the more expensive Apple Pencil models, such as Pressure Sensitivity with natural pressure response, from a light tap to a harder press, and Double Tap to switch tools.

Apple doesn't have a set process for updating its hardware, but in the case of USB-C, connecting it to an iPad with a USB-C cable and turning on the iPad should be enough to encourage the update to be downloaded.
