The PTR for World of Warcraft version 10.2.5 generated much anticipation last year, with participants mainly confirming changes to the city of Gilneas.
Blizzard's 2024 WoW roadmap also outlined the release's additions, promising an episode in the Dragon Isles, Follower Dungeons, and global dragon riding

There was speculation that the update would be released sometime between mid- and late January. With that time quickly approaching, Blizzard has officially revealed everything. Version 10.2.5, also known as “Seeds of Renewal,” will be available to WoW players on January 16th.
In a blog post on the 'This Week in WoW' blog, the Blizzard outlined the content of the upcoming Seeds of Renewal update. Scheduled to release on January 16, version 10.2.5 will allow players to ride dragons in older areas where flying is possible.

Players can also look forward to participating in the retaking of Gilneas from King Graymen. Additionally, the Azerothian Archives Public Event will allow curious fans to unearth the buried history of Azeroth and the Dragon Isles.

- Dragon Riding Ability Will Be Available Worldwide: The skies of Azeroth and beyond can be yours atop your dragon. In Dragonflight: Seeds of Renewal, the dragon riding ability will expand to all old continental regions where flight is possible.
- Azerothian Archives: Discover the history of the Dragon Isles and meet a unique cast of characters, hear tales from long ago, and witness iconography from a bygone era. Participate in Solo and Group activities within Traitor's Rest with a Weekly event, plenty of opportunities to explore, and earn rewards like Battle Pets, Mounts, and a Transmog set.
- Bel'ameth: “The Arms of the Goddess” lie at the heart of the Emerald Dream and serve as a central hub for the Seeds of Renewal and a place of blossoming hope for the Kaldorei.
- Reclaiming Gilneas: King Graymen is ready to reclaim his kingdom, but Gilneas is not as empty as he expected. Help reclaim what was lost and return the kingdom to the hands of the Gilneans.
- Follower Dungeons: Play as a Tank, healer, and DPS alongside NPC companions who will accompany you on your Dungeon adventures. They will be available in all eight Normal Dragonflight Dungeons and can scale from 1 to 4 players. These companions will allow players to learn about Dragonflight dungeons at their own pace and provide the freedom to experiment and customize their party formation.
- New Character Customizations: Get creative with your characters! Trolls, it's time to visit the hair salon and change things up with five new hair colors. Unique customizations for Draenei, the Warlock Tyrant, and Darkglare demons are on the way, and customization achievements are coming for completers.
- In addition to confirming the release date and content of patch 10.2.5, WoW developers also shared the news and events coming during the rest of this week-long period.
