The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 community has been incredibly responsive to Gaia's skin and her in-game appearance.
A skin that debuted in Modern Warfare II in 2022 has Modern Warfare III players infuriated this month. Due to its striking resemblance to Marvel, the Gaia skin—an unlockable cosmetic for champion Nila “Nova” Brown—has been dubbed “literally invisible.” In response to player requests on X (formerly Twitter), Reddit, and other platforms, developer Sledgehammer Games is heeding the call. During a Reddit AMA on November 19, the studio revealed that an upcoming update will temporarily remove the cosmetic.

Responding to a fan, the studio stated: “Adjustments to the Gaia and Gaia Blackcell Operator Skins are in the works for Modern Warfare III.” “We will disable this feature in a future game update until these changes are available to all players.”
It’s safe to assume that Sledgehammer Games will make the Groot skin more visible in-game, though it’s unclear how the team plans to update it or when that “future” update will happen. Many of Call of Duty’s maps are foggy, which gives the skin a big advantage. Due to the transparent, branch-like edges and the red, green, and brown color scheme, it’s currently difficult to identify someone wearing the skin. Because of this, many in the community have come to label it both “broken” and “pay-to-win.”

The Groot skin isn't the only problem Modern Warfare III players have with the game. In addition to its short campaign that's mostly crap, the game has featured respawn pits, or deathpits, on many maps, which players are exploiting to their advantage. Players are once again debating the merits of skill-based matchmaking.
