Microsoft will soon be getting rid of a number of features from Edge.
Microsoft Edge isn't the most popular browser in terms of market share, but it's certainly capable. Microsoft is regularly adding new features to the browser for both developers and consumers to gain further ground in an ongoing battle against Google Chrome. Stable Channel builds are released monthly, but Insider preview builds give us some clues about what to expect. Now, the latest Edge Beta has revealed that Microsoft is removing some features from its browser.

As Neowin notes, the release notes for Edge Beta 117, which became available just a few days ago, state that Microsoft is removing the following features:
- Math Solver
- Picture Dictionary
- Citations
- Grammar Tools
- Kids Mode
While the company hasn't provided details on the reason for each removal, it has emphasized that this move will improve the end-user experience and simplify some complicated menus. As such, these tools are being retired in Edge version 117, which is expected the week of September 14, 2023. Expect the aforementioned features to be removed completely in future releases.

However, Microsoft is also introducing a few new features for Edge. For starters, Smart Find will enhance the search capabilities of phrases through artificial intelligence, even if you misspell a word or find something semantically similar. Another feature is “E-tree in Wallet,” which allows users to grow a digital tree via a “virtual seed” in a wallet. When the tree grows, a real mangrove tree will be planted on behalf . Despite the lack of detailed information about the process of growing this virtual tree, it is required to sign in to Edge with your Microsoft account to take advantage. Finally, Microsoft Edge for Business will include some improvements in the form of better automatic transition between personal browsing and work browsing for business customers with the appropriate login.
