Cities Skylines 2 has released a huge update for public transport and cargo, much to the excitement of the community. The update includes trading with other cities and full control over buses. Every form of ground public transport now has a depot. The community is also excited about the ability to trade with friends or their own city saves.

In Cities Skylines 2, buses can be fueled or electric and require a bus depot. Intercity routes can be defined by the player. Taxis do not operate on routes and contribute to traffic congestion. Trains require a rail yard and have high initial costs, but they make up for this with their transport capabilities. Train infrastructure includes bridges, elevated tracks, and bi-directional and dual-track lines.
Trams are similar to trains in Cities Skylines 2 but can have routes built on roads or specific routes to avoid traffic, and subways can be built underground as in the original game. Air and water transport are also available, with airports and ports required respectively. The functionality of the Line tool has been standardized to provide a simpler gameplay loop between all transport options, including passenger and freight transport. You should acquire the tool functionality from depots, then build stops and stations, lines and roads, before designing individual lines.

In Cities Skylines 2, you can define the routes and how they travel between stations. Buses can have priority lanes or separate roads, and can be given waypoints to avoid busy areas. Ports must be connected to sea routes using the Seaway tool, and ship routes can be created. Transport options are unlocked using development points, with the exception of buses and taxis which are unlocked through milestone progression. The Transport Info View shows all information about public transport and freight, with clear icons and a route table that gives information about specific routes.
There's so much to get excited about with this new update, that's for sure.
