A Twitter outage has left many users disconnected from the platform and unable to log back into accounts . At around 3:45 p.m. ET, Twitter users around the world were experiencing problems connecting to the desktop site. Many reported their problems to the platform DownDetector.
When they tried to reconnect to the site, the connections appeared to work, but the site redirected them to the logout address. This appears to have primarily affected users using Google Chrome and Chromebook. Accounts were logged out in Chrome, but not in Mozilla Firefox.
After attempting to log in to Twitter via Google Chrome for a second time, the site requested additional information as it detected unusual activity on the account.

However, once users entered this information, they were able to log back into their account. This may not have been the case for everyone experiencing the repeated login and logout issue.
With no issues reported on Twitter's status page or support account, users had to wait for the outage itself. Eventually, the issues were fixed without Twitter providing any additional information about what caused the issues.
