Octopath Traveler 2 is a game that highlights human relationships, making it truly unforgettable.
The game features eight characters, each with their own story – what stands out is that the characters are not friends, which raises a question.
For most of the game, at least four of the eight characters are usually together, but when a 'main scene' occurs in the flow of the story, then everyone disappears and only the protagonist remains.

Travel jokes, where two characters awkwardly chat, and shallow parallel stories, don't solve the problem.
This is a bit of a stretch, because the eight narratives feature an elaborate plot with side characters trying to develop their relationships with the protagonists.
However, Octopath Traveler 2 is an exciting game, with a vast world free to explore and a thematic core about separating personal ambition from destructive greed.
The game has a stunning and detailed world with historical, magical, social and religious details that impress. The game also has an excellent soundtrack that will enchant anyone who listens to it.
Although the grinding can be quite tiring towards the end of the game, the pace at which the chapters progress is fast.

Each chapter lasts an hour or two and includes an introduction to the cast of side characters and a boss fight.
How you build your team, gear , and skills are crucial during battles, and when they are well balanced (with each other), the game becomes extremely satisfying.
You don't want to max out or focus on just one of them, because otherwise you won't be able to "move on"!
The game's boss fights are generally a pretty satisfying "closure" for each chapter, especially since the skills each boss has reflect their character in the story.
The lack of "connection" between the protagonists, however, is the game's Achilles heel
. When a protagonist has to fight alone, it drops the intensity of the game a bit, and when side characters appear to animate a protagonist, then the absence is noticeable.

In short, Octopath Traveler 2 is a game that has its good points, but it also has its bad points.
While the game has a compelling story and a stunning world, the lack of connection between the characters is the game's biggest drawback. Despite this, the game is still an enjoyable and immersive experience with its incredible soundtrack, detailed world, and well-designed boss battles.
Octopath Traveler 2 will be released on February 24th on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch , and Windows PC. The game was reviewed on Switch using a pre-release code provided by Square Enix.
