Recent reports suggest that the long-awaited Apple AR/VR headset may finally become a reality this spring.
After several years of preparation, Apple’s long-awaited AR/VR headset is now almost complete. According to Bloomberg ’s Mark Gurman , the company plans to unveil the device sometime this spring ahead of the WWDC conference that takes place every June. In a sign of its imminent arrival, Apple has apparently revealed the headset to a number of prominent software developers — giving them a first look at its latest operating system, “xrOS .” Following the release of the “Reality Pro” in the spring, it’s expected to release this product before the fall.

According to Gurman, previous reports of Apple's AR/VR headset in January were true, but those plans fell through.
The crucial race to release an AR/VR headset will have long-term implications for Apple ’s 2023 product lineup. On the software side, it appears that the next version of iOS is set for fewer major changes than expected, as engineers have been moved from the regular team to xrOS . Additionally, Gurman says macOS 14 could suffer a similar impact. Apple ’s hardware goals aren’t particularly exciting. There are no significant updates pending for the iPad , Apple Watch , and AirPods . According to Gurman , new iPad Pro models with OLED displays will be available soon —but those likely won’t arrive until 2024. He went on to note that the upcoming MacPro using Apple Silicon is predicted to be “another disappointment.” This desktop is said to feature the same design as the 2019 version without upgradeable RAM due to Apple 's M-series chipset architecture .

Despite the lackluster release schedule beyond Apple's AR/VR headset , there may be two glimmers of hope: the 15-inch MacBook Air and the iPhone 15. According to Gurman , both will feature Apple 's innovative Dynamic Island technology as well as USB-C charging capabilities . On top of that, the Pro models of the iPhone 15 series will feature titanium frames and tactile volume buttons!
