Case Alexander Vinik: Advocate Zoe Konstantopoulou sends letters to the Minister of Justice Mr. Konstantinos Tsiaras and to the Appeals Prosecutor of Thessaloniki, Mr. Angelos Kamilaris, ahead of tomorrow's trial in Paris and the possible and planned air transfer of Alexander Vinik to Greece and from there to the USA.

Ms. Zoe Konstantopoulou states the following in the letter she sends to the Minister of Justice Mr. Konstantinos Tsiaras regarding the case of Alexander Vinnik: “As you are well aware, my client Mr. Alexander VINNIK, father of 2 minor children, currently aged 8 and 11, who have been deprived of their father for 5 years, while they have also been orphaned by their mother, has addressed to you his application dated 14/5/2021 under no. prot. 1467 for the review and reform of your decision to extradite him to the US Authorities. He requests that you revoke and reform your decision for humanitarian, substantive and legal reasons, which concern both his fundamental right to the family and the fundamental right of his minor children, who have been orphaned by their mother, to have contact with him. their father. He asks that you allow him to return to his country, Russia.”

Ms. Konstantopoulou's letter is accompanied by documents from the case, as well as the last photo of Alexander with his family, before they came to Greece and before his life fell apart. The lawyer calls on the Minister of Justice to take responsibility and not to cooperate in the continuation of criminal actions against Alexander and his children. To let him return to his children, who need him and are growing up orphans.

The lawyer then sent an urgent letter to the Prosecutor of Appeals of Thessaloniki, Mr. Angelos Kamilaris. Prosecutor Kamilaris is the one who allowed Alexander to be taken from his hospital ward on January 23, 2020, without the presence of a Prosecutor. and as Mrs. Konstantopoulou states, he is the one who signed a document on 30.06.2022 giving permission for Alexander to be detained even after serving his sentence! A permission that was then signed by the Minister of Justice!
The letter states the following:
In my capacity as the attorney-in-fact of Mr. Alexander VINNIK, please let me know the following:
On 30-06-2022, and although you had already been notified by the Ministry of Justice of my request to be informed about your actions concerning my principal, which you never answered but instead refused to answer, you drafted a document with protocol no. 190/18 E, addressed to the D.D.A.S.-T.D.O. INTERPOL, with which you state the following: “We have been informed that the competent service of the French Ministry of Justice requested the consent of the competent Greek authorities so that the detention in France of the wanted person Alexander VINNIK could be extended until 04-07-2022, who is scheduled to be released on 30-06-2022 from the prison where he was being held pending execution of a French court decision”. As the authority responsible for executing the above ministerial decision, the Greek authority holds the view that the extension of the detention of the aforementioned wanted person in France and after the execution of the sentence imposed on him by the French court, until the expiry of the temporary suspension of extradition ordered by the EDA, is absolutely legal since the extension of the detention is carried out within the framework of executing the aforementioned decision of the Greek Minister of Justice. In any case we agree to this extension.

Alexander Vinnik was arrested in July 2017 by Greek authorities while on vacation with his family in Halkidiki. His lawyer Zoe Konstantopoulou says the reason he was arrested is that the US Department of Justice and the Greek Ministry of Justice colluded to extradite Alexander, violating her client's rights.
