South Korean created Internet Explorer tombstone

Last week, Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer. One person was so saddened by the death of Internet Explorer that he paid over $300 for a tombstone marking its death.

To commemorate the end of Internet Explorer on June 15, South Korean software engineer Jung Ki-young paid 430,000 won ($330) to design and commission a tombstone bearing the famous 'e' logo, the name Internet Explorer, the dates it existed, and the appropriate epitaph, "He was a good tool to download other browsers."

Jung told Reuters he had mixed feelings about the browser that has played such a big role in his professional life. "I would describe it as a love-hate relationship," he said.

Jung explained that it took him longer to ensure that his websites and apps were compatible with Explorer than with other browsers . But customers continued to ask him if their sites looked good on Microsoft's software , which has been widely used among South Korean businesses for years.

Not only is Internet Explorer no longer supported on some versions of Windows 10, but Microsoft will push an update that will remove it from Win 10 devices entirely, redirecting users to Edge if they try to access the app. That's bad news for the nearly 50% of businesses that still use the browser.

IE will continue to work through Internet Explorer mode in Microsoft Edge until 2029, or January 2023, if you're still using Windows 8.1 or Windows 7.
