Mark Zuckerberg issued a reminder – and an apparent warning – to Facebook Messenger users who take screenshots of their conversations.

The Facebook founder and CEO of parent company Meta said in a post on Friday that an update to Messenger would notify users if a conversation of theirs has been screenshotted by another person.
“New update for end-to-end encrypted Messenger conversations so you get a notification if someone takes a screenshot of a disappearing message,” Zuckerberg wrote along with a screenshot of a conversation with his wife, Priscilla Chan.
"We are also adding GIFs, stickers and reactions to encrypted conversations," he added.

The announcement follows an update to the widely used Facebook Messenger platform that allows users to set their messages to disappear.
The feature has so far been rolled out in the United States and is expected to roll out to Facebook users in Europe in the coming weeks, according to USA Today.
Rival messaging platforms already offer options for users to make messages disappear, as well as notifications when a conversation has been screenshotted.

Messaging apps like WhatsApp include end-to-end encryption – another recent addition to Facebook.
Reports suggest that Facebook's move was a response to security concerns and a broader controversy over online safety and free speech rights.

"When are you going to add the 'dislike' button? We need answers..." wrote one Facebook user in response to Zuckerberg's post.
