Apple has released new firmware updates for the second-generation AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max . All three AirPods models are now running firmware version 4A400. Previously, AirPods and AirPods Pro were running 3E751, and AirPods Max was running version 3E756 .

Apple also released new firmware for the Beats Solo Pro, Powerbeats 4 , and Powerbeats Pro.
However, the company hasn't provided many details about what's included in the updated firmware for the AirPods Pro, so we don't know exactly what improvements or fixes have been made. However, the update likely adds Conversation Boost to the AirPods Pro.
Conversation Boost is an iOS 15 that uses the beamforming microphones in AirPods Pro to increase the volume level of conversations.

Additionally, the new update is said to have enabled “Find My” features for both AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. This means that the same network used with AirTags can now be leveraged for AirPods.
Typically, the firmware installation happens over-the-air, while the AirPods are connected to an iOS device. Under normal circumstances, if you place the AirPods in case , connect them to charger (with them plugged in), and pair them with an iPhone or iPad, the update will take place after a short period of time.
You can check the firmware of your AirPods or AirPods Pro by following these steps:
- Connect your AirPods or AirPods Pro to your iOS device.
- Open Settings.
- Tap General.
- Click About.
- Tap AirPods.
- Look at the number next to “Firmware Version”.
