The battery life of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 could be a big deal for one of the most anticipated smartwatches of this year.

While Samsung hasn't revealed the next-gen Galaxy Watch or official battery life estimates, we know what we're hoping to see. At the very least, we expect Samsung's latest smartwatch to outperform the Apple Watch 7.
In the past, the Galaxy Watch's battery life could beat the Apple Watch by a wide margin, but Samsung has since lowered its expectations. The original Samsung Galaxy Watch had an impressive 4-day battery life, while the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2's battery life is 10 days

Then, when we tested the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3, one of the best smartwatches on the market, after 24 hours the watch needed a recharge. Samsung rated its latest release for up to two days, but with consistent activity tracking and the screen setting enabled, we saw a decrease in battery life.
If the downward trend in battery life continues, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 (or Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 4) looks set to require a daily charge. While that's not the only thing we'll be rating the smartwatch, it's a bit disappointing given what Samsung once offered.
That's why if Samsung boosts the Galaxy Watch's battery life, it could spark more excitement for the upcoming release of the next version on August 11th.

So could it happen? With new features and sensors, some would say it's unfair to expect improved battery life. However, previews of the Galaxy Watch's new software and a recent spec leak have given us some hope.
