Ford has finally revealed its first electric pickup truck, the Ford F-150 Lightning . The conventional F-series has been a favorite of American customers for many years. Now, the automaker is looking to achieve the same success in the electric vehicle industry.

The starting price for the F-150 Lightning is said to be just under $40,000, similar to Tesla 's Cybertruck . Now, prospective buyers will have another option at the same price point if they're not satisfied with the Cybertruck's design.

The electric F-150 Lightning, unlike its competitors, looks more like a conventional pickup truck.

Price and variations
The Ford F-150 Lightning will be available in four trim levels: the base model, XLT, Lariat and Platinum.
The base model starts at $39,974, but other variants will be more expensive due to additional features and capabilities.
Electric mobility
Regarding the battery of the new electric pickup, there are two configurations: a standard battery and an extended-range battery.
According to Ford, the standard version will allow for a range of around 370 km, while the extended version increases the range to 483 km.
Charging
When it comes to charging, Ford is equipping the vehicle with an integrated 80-amp dual-charging system, which will help customers quickly charge the electric pickup truck at home. Essentially, we’re talking about 30 miles of range per hour of charging.
On the other hand, at a fast charging station, an autonomy of 87 km can be obtained in 10 minutes, while it can charge from 15% to 80% in just 41 minutes.
Performance
All variants of the Ford F-150 Lightning, regardless of battery configurations, are equipped with two electric motors.
From the beginning, Ford made it clear that the electric F-150 would be the most powerful pickup truck ever, and it has made sure to build it to deliver on that promise.
The F-150 Lightning will reach 90 km/h in 4 seconds.
The basic version can tow up to approximately 3.5 tons while the more powerful version can tow up to 4.5 tons.
Other interesting features
Ford has equipped the F-150 Lightning with many innovative features. Some of them are BlueCruise that allows hands-free driving on certain roads, Intelligent Range that estimates range based on weather conditions, FordPass, a huge 15.5-inch display , and more.

The F-150 range extender will be able to power your home for up to 3 three days when fully charged.
The company has already started accepting pre-orders for the electric pickup, with the commercial launch scheduled for spring 2022.
